Dr Hope’s Story

My transition into motherhood was great! I had an unmedicated and intervention-free homebirth, which left me feeling like a superwoman. Of course there was a learning curve with having a newborn: breastfeeding, learning cues, but overall, it was breezy…

But gosh did I struggle to adapt with 2… I felt so overwhelmed. My newest little baby challenged me with lots of ‘firsts' that I didn’t know how to handle; I also didn’t have the same adrenaline as I did the first time, I was tired and depleted. I was never sleeping, I was eating terribly out of comfort, I was angry with everyone and then when I was 6-weeks postpartum, I hit a wall.

I already had a strong foundation with my doctorate degree in chiropractic and helping women to naturally support their body's internal workings, so I went back to those basics. I also ran several comprehensive tests, read books from experts in functional hormone health, started reaching out to colleagues to find the best solutions, I took course after course, I received my functional neurodevelopment certification for maternal and pediatric wellbeing… and THEN everything started to come together!
Over time, I was finally able to take back control of my life. I regained my energy, I was more focused, productive, being PRESENT with my family. I was able to finally get back to exercise. In the process of all the simple and strategic changes, I also lost my pregnancy weight.

Burnout… rock bottom… I no longer had control over my body. It was in this realization that I knew, for my little girls, for my family and most importantly for myself, that I needed to flip the switch and turn the light back on.
